Mass Effect is one of my favorite game series, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who knows me (or knows enough of me). BioWare always does a fabulous job with their games. Even the ones they don’t try very hard on turn out comparatively well when pitted against other game developers. Mass Effect 2, even though its a sequel, holds a special place in my heart.
My first foray into exploring Mass Effect weaponry was going to be the M-7 Assault Rifle from the original Mass Effect. As I looked for reference pictures I became aware that the M-7 and its Mass Effect 2 counterpart, the M-8, were not actually the same model as I expected. They are different, although minutely, but enough to have a different feel. I quickly decided I liked the general design of the M-8 better so the weapon morphed into what you see below.
The model itself is heavy on mesh detail, since KotOR does not support any type of bump mapping. This could make it a stress on very old systems, however it’s unlikely a user would experience performance issues. To give the weapon a bit more meaning it now functions as a blaster rifle replacement. This means not only will you be able to use it any time you equip a blaster rifle, but you’ll also see enemies wielding it.

UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS: Remove the above named files from your override folder.
DESCRIPTION: This model is a replica of the M-8 Assault Rifle as seen in the game Mass Effect 2 (similar to the rifle from the original Mass Effect, but the design is slightly different). This is simply a blaster rifle replacement, so all of the weapons that use the w_blstrrfl_001 model will now show up as this rifle, leaving it compatible with other custom blaster mods... except other replacement mods, naturally.
